FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common GST questions answered

What is the difference between CGST, SGST, and IGST?
CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST) are charged on intra-state (within the same state) transactions — split equally at 50% each of the total GST rate. IGST (Integrated GST) is charged on inter-state transactions and collected entirely by the central government.
How to calculate GST from a GST-inclusive price?
To remove GST from an inclusive price: Base Price = Total Price × 100 / (100 + GST Rate). For example, if a product costs ₹1,180 with 18% GST, the base price = 1180 × 100/118 = ₹1,000. Use the "Remove GST" option in this calculator.
Who needs to register for GST?
Businesses with annual turnover exceeding ₹40 lakhs (₹20 lakhs for special category states) for goods, and ₹20 lakhs (₹10 lakhs) for services must register for GST. E-commerce operators, inter-state suppliers, and specific service providers must register regardless of turnover.
What goods and services are exempt from GST?
Items exempt from GST include: fresh unprocessed food (vegetables, fruits, milk, eggs), educational services, healthcare services, public transportation (except air/rail AC), electricity, and government services.
