A waist is considered "defined" when Waist ÷ Bust and Waist ÷ Hip are both 75% or less. A waist is considered "undefined" when either ratio is 85% or more. The hip shelf ratio shows whether your hip widens gradually below the waist or has a distinct curve.
If the waist is "undefined" (Waist ÷ Bust or Waist ÷ Hip ≥ 85%), the shape is classified Apple regardless of bust/hip balance.
If Bust and Hip are within 5% of each other, the shape is Hourglass when the waist is defined, or Rectangle when it isn't.
If Bust is more than 5% larger than Hip, it's Top Hourglass (5-15% larger) or Inverted Triangle (over 15% larger). If Hip is more than 5% larger with a defined waist and a 7%+ hip shelf, it's Bottom Hourglass; otherwise it's Pear.
