Price After Discount: Savings = Original Price × (Discount % ÷ 100); Final Price = (Original Price − Savings) × (1 + Tax % ÷ 100). With the default $80 original price at 25% off, Savings = $80 × (25 ÷ 100) = $20, so the price before tax is $80 − $20 = $60. Add an 8% sales tax on top and this discount calculator shows a final price after discount of $60 × (1 + 8 ÷ 100) = $64.80, since tax is applied to the discounted price, not the original one. Find Discount %: Discount % = ((Original Price − Sale Price) ÷ Original Price) × 100. With the default $50 original price and $35 sale price, that's (($50 − $35) ÷ $50) × 100 = (15 ÷ 50) × 100 = 30% — a fast way to find discount rate on any advertised sale price calculator claim. How many discounts can I stack in the Stacked Discounts tab?

What does "Effective Discount" mean in the Stacked Discounts result?
It's the true overall percentage saved — Total Saved divided by the Original Price — after all the successive discounts have been applied in sequence. It's shown next to "Simple Sum" (the percentages just added together) so you can see how much smaller the real savings are than the naive sum.
Does the order I enter stacked discounts change the final price?
If every discount is a percentage, order doesn't matter — multiplying (1−d1) × (1−d2) × … gives the same result regardless of sequence. Order only matters if you mix a flat-amount discount with percentage discounts, since a flat amount removes a different dollar value depending on what price it's applied to.
What if the flat discount amount is larger than the original price?
